Who We are

our story

New City Church began with a simple conviction: God was calling His people to come together as one for the sake of the cities they love.

In 2017, two healthy churches in Cedar Rapids sensed God inviting them into something bigger than what either could do alone. Through prayer and unity, those communities chose to lay down their individual identities and form one church—New City Church. What began as an act of obedience became a picture of God’s heart for reconciliation and shared mission.

From the beginning, New City was never meant to be a single location. We believe the Church is strongest when it reflects the people and needs of the cities it serves. As God continued to lead, New City expanded beyond Cedar Rapids—into Des Moines and Marshalltown—each location joining a shared vision while being led by pastors who know and love their communities.

At every step, our story has been shaped by prayer, faithful leadership, and a desire to draw people to Jesus. In a world often marked by division, New City exists to renew our cities by helping people find authentic relationship in Jesus—where belonging, family, and transformation take root.

Today, New City Church is one church with multiple locations, united by a common mission and guided by local pastors who serve together as one team. Our story is still being written.
